The Board's vision will provide direction and
set out what it is that drive's the organisation over the longer term:

Our Mission
The Board's purpose is captured by the
following mission statement:
"Ko te tahuhu mahi ki te tiaki, kit e manaaki hoki i te Mauri o
Taupo-Nui-A-Tia"
"The Board's mission is to sustain, protect and enhance
the Mauri of Taupo-Nui-A-Tia"
Key Strategic Areas
The key strategic areas provide the board with
a framework for its planning and work:
- Community
- ensure that the expectations of its Principals and key stakeholders are met
- Environment - ensure that the
environmental integrity of the estate is maintained
- Economy - generate an economic return
from the beds of Taupo waters; and
- Organisation - ensure that the Board
operates in accordance with best practice
Guiding principles
- The Board will act in accordance with the
principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, in particular:
* Rangatiratanga - recognition of iwi authority
* Whakawhanaungatanga - recognition of the Iwi/Crown relationship
* Kaitiakitanga - recognition of the iwi duty of guardianship
- Consultation - the Board will consult widely
and undertake informed decision making
- Proactive Management - the Board will take a
proactive approach to managing its responsibilities
- Integrated Management - the Board will take
an integrated approach to managing Taupo-Nui- A-Tia
